LASIK > The LASIK Procedure
15 Minutes That Will Change Your Life
Today there’s a lasting alternative to your less-than-perfect vision:, known as LASIK (laser in- situ keratomileusis) After careful pre-operative screenings, the LASIK procedure is completed in less than 15 minutes per eye.
The procedure is designed to improve your vision so you can reduce – or even eliminate– your dependence on contact lenses or glasses.
In fact, more than 98% of our LASIK patients see 20/40 without correction, and over 96% have 20/20 vision or better.
PRIOR TO SURGERY
- Arrive at the office in comfortable clothes.
- No make-up, perfume, hair spray or after shave is permitted
- Anesthetic and anti-biotic drops will be administered to your eyes.
- Dr. Wasserman will check to see if you have any last minute questions or concerns.
- Dr. Wasserman first creates a thin “flap” on the cornea using a special instrument called a microkeratome. Then he gently lifts the flap so he can treat the cornea.
- Using the VISX Star S4 IR laser with ActiveTrak™ Dr. Wasserman reshapes the curvature of your cornea to achieve your ideal correction.
- Dr. Wasserman returns the flap to its original position, and closely monitors each eye to ensure the flap heals properly.
- You’ll be escorted to a massage chair to rest your eyes.
- Post op instructions will be given to you and to your driver both verbally and in writing.
- Dr. Wasserman will do a final check before sending you home to relax.
- Your vision will recover rapidly.
- You’ll say goodbye to all-day, everyday use of glasses or contacts.
