EYELID SURGERY & BOTOX > Ptosis – Droopy eyelid skin
Ptosis can appear at birth or develop with age. A child with congenital ptosis may tilt his or her head in order to be able to see properly. Surgery to correct a child with ptosis is recommended in pre-school years to improve appearance and to make it easier for the child to see.As we grow older, ptosis develops and can limit side or central vision in one eye or both. Other symptoms include difficulty keeping your eyes open, eyestrain, or fatigue when reading. Surgically shortening the muscle that opens the eyelid will often lead to better vision and improved appearance.
